About Sondra

Picture
Sondra has been involved in the fitness industry since her days in high school. Originally from New England, she graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a BS in Exercise Physiology and a BS in Psychology. While at UNH, Sondra was involved with the Cardiac Rehabilitation program for patients recovering or prone to cardiovascular disease. She was also an Exercise Physiologist for the Employee Fitness Program. After graduation, she interned at the USA Triathlon National Training Center in Clermont, Florida where she worked with the 2004 Triathlon Olympic team that competed in Athens. Following her internship she studied at the University of Texas Austin  in the graduate program for Exercise Physiology and Sport Science and Nutrition.

Sondra is a competitive distance runner and former top-amateur triathlete. She has run numerous races including the Boston, NYC, and Chicago Marathons. Her triathlon career included the sprint and ironman distances…and everything in between! She currently trains for fun and incorporates running, biking, yoga, and strength training. Sondra has trained many clients for their first 5k and others for marathons and triathlons.

Training Philosophy

A fit and healthy lifestyle is challenging to incorporate into our fast paced and fast food lives. There are an overwhelming number of diet, exercise, and training programs that have big promises and yield frustrating results.

Everyone can benefit from Personal Training, not just beginners or pro-athletes. My style of training involves a healthy lifestyle change that includes nutrition, setting reasonable short and long term goals, strength training, cardiovascular training, flexibility, recovery, motivation, and encouragement. Your workouts will be challenging, interesting, and fun.  This makes it easier to adopt or maintain a habit of fitness that will benefit you now and as you get older. There are no short-cuts, special formulas or magic diets to get and keep you fit and in good health. Personal training is a collaborative effort between the trainer and the client. It is my job to design a safe and effective program specifically for you.  None of my clients have the exact same program as they all have different goals and body types. The client’s job is to trust the trainer’s knowledge and expertise and be willing to put forth effort. Yes, working out is challenging. Yes, sometimes you won't feel like training. Yes, sometimes you will hate me. As long as you try, you will be successful with me. I can help you if you are ready to make a lifestyle change.
